Expert Group and Task Force Workshops
First Expert Group Workshop on Agriculture and Food Security
The E15 Expert Group on Agriculture, Trade and Food Security Challenges met for the first time in Geneva on 27-28 September 2012 in a workshop organised by ICTSD and Knowledge Partner International Food and Agricultural Trade Policy Council (IPC). The ultimate goal of the Expert Group is to develop a set of policy options examining how the global food system has changed and how it is projected to change in order to determine whether a new intellectual framework is required for international food and agricultural trade policy. To meet this end, participants engaged in open discussion on the following topics: major trends in food security and agricultural trade; the effect of agricultural trade policy on rural development and food security; and internalising greenhouse gases and other environmental externalities of agricultural production.
Attendance at this event was by invitation only.
