Matias Ignacio Pinto Pimentel

Legal Adviser

Matias Ignacio Pinto Pimentel is a Chilean lawyer from the Concepcion University School of Law, where he graduates with honors. He also holds a LLM in Environmental Law from the School of law of the University of Chile.

He is currently working as a Legal Advisor in the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness program in the Ministry of Finance. Before joining the GCF program, he served as an attorney in the Energy, Trade and Sustainable Development Department´s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Economic Directorate (DIRECON) representing Chilean position in trade and environment in different forums like the UNFCCC, the WTO, the ICAO and the IMO among others. He also coordinates Chile’s national committee for reduction of carbon emissions deriving from international transport (bunker fuels). He negotiated the Market Base Mechanism for the International Aviation, the Paris Agreement and served as member of Chile´s national committee on carbon markets.
