E15 Conversation on the Global Trade and Investment Architecture

On 4 September 2015, E15 Theme Leaders and Co-conveners met in Geneva for a conversation on the future of the Global Trade and Investment Architecture (GTIA). The E15 Theme on the GTIA is led by Theme Leader Carolyn Deere Birkbeck, Senior Researcher for the Global Economic Governance Programme at the University of Oxford, and Convener Ricardo Meléndez-Ortiz, Chief Executive of ICTSD and Principal Convener of the E15Initiative. The conversation addressed five dimensions outlined in the draft overview paper written by Carolyn Deere Birkbeck and Kimberley Botwright: the purpose, scope, and functions of the GTIA; challenges within the GTIA; and roles and responsibilities of the GTIA in global governance.

ICTSD and the World Economic Forum will host many E15 expert conversations on the GTIA will continue in 2015 and 2016. Attendance was by invitation only.
