The E15 Expert Group on Trade and Innovation met for the first time in Geneva on 6-7 June 2013 to take a fresh look at the trade and innovation nexus and explore options to enhance the contribution of the multilateral trading system in support of global and national innovation efforts. The workshop opened with a session led by Theme Leader John M. Curtis (ICTSD) examining the global innovation landscape, including trends, challenges, and implications for the multilateral trading system. The group of experts then broke out into three sub-groups discussing the following topics: (i) the economics of innovation and trade: issues and knowledge gaps, (ii) innovation and WTO rules: the need for adjustment? and (iii) innovation, intellectual property and trade.

Attendance at this event was by invitation only.
