Second Expert Group Workshop on Services
The E15 Expert Group on Services met for the second time in Geneva on 24-25 November 2014 with a focus on “Rethinking the Role of Services in a Changing World”. Six presentations followed by group discussion centered on the following issues at the intersection of the services trade and development: achieving adequate regulatory disciplines for services and prospects for regulatory coherence through new mechanisms; ramification of the “fusion” of goods and services in international output, investment and trade; services trade agreements their ability to adapt changes in technology and business models that affect services; examining services SMEs and their developmental impact; hard law vs. “soft law” in fostering better dialogue around services trade liberalization; and GATS and XXI century trade challenges.
