Senior Research Fellow, World Trade Institute at the University of Bern; Lecturer and consultant on various trade, agriculture and development policy issues. Researches food security from a trade and investment perspective. Former: Head of International Affairs, Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture; Deputy Head of the World Trade/WTO Division and Head of Trade Section, Swiss Federal Office for Foreign Economic Affairs; Swiss Development Cooperation; International Labour Organization. Chaired the WTO Committee on Agriculture (Regular Session); has served in fifteen dispute settlement cases, including EC–Bananas, EC–Biotech, Japan–Apples, China–Trading Rights and United States–Country of Origin Labeling.
