Hassan Qaqaya

Senior Fellow, University of Melbourne

Senior Fellow, University of Melbourne. Former: Head of the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch, United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Responsible for the direction and management of the Secretariat work, Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition policy, the Ad-Hoc Experts groups on Consumer Policies and the United Nations Review Conferences of the Set of Principles on Competition Policy. Has written extensively on Competition and development issues, Consumer Protection, competition and Investment, and the appropriate design and enforcement of competition law and Policy issues. Has assisted developing countries and economies in transition in drafting laws and designing competition agencies and is responsible for the UNCTAD peer reviews on Competition policy. Launched UNCTAD Academic Research Platform on Competition and Consumer Policies in 2008.
