PhD in Economics, Warsaw School of Economics. Former: Director of the WTO Rules Division (which covered all issues relating to subsidies and countervailing measures, anti-dumping, safeguards, state trading and trade in civil aircraft and which serviced all WTO dispute settlement panels in these areas). Joined the WTO Secretariat in 1975. Participated in the Tokyo Round, Uruguay Round and Doha Round. In the Tokyo Round and the Uruguay Round served as the secretary of the Negotiating Group on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and, from the Ministerial Meeting in Brussels in 1990, as the Coordinator for the Rules area (negotiations on subsidies and countervailing measures, anti-dumping, safeguards, TRIMs, balance of payments and trade in civil aircraft).
